You must have enjoyed tempting ads of watches may be its Tag Heuer , Tissot , Esprit or may be high end brands like Omega or Rolex . There are many things common like they have a dial , a minute hand but one thing which we don’t observe is the time they show when they are displayed in showroom. Its 10:10 ! just give a closer look , nearly all watches show this time. Now the question is if this time is so important then why none of the brands made this a patent, or may be they plan after reading this blog ( please pay my fees for the suggestion
. As such there is no history associated with this time but there are some fact and some marketing strategies that make it so cherished by these watch brands.
Well the history said it all started in the year 1920 with no specific reasons this time stamp first appeared in Times Magazine and then it continued. I just told there are two theories for its explanation , the first one is , at this very time stamp it is believed that Lincoln or Kennedy were shot dead, however these are phony stories, Abe was shot a little after 10 PM and died at 7:30 AM. Another rumor from history says in England they say it’s the hour Guy Fawkes had planned to blow up the Houses of Parliament at this very time stamp. All these arguments still have to be supported by some concrete evidences, so rule out such reasons for 10:10.
The other reason why 10:10 is used as far as marketing is concerned is, that it makes the clock symmetrical in look making the brand logo visible. Well if this would be the sole reason then why not to use 8:10 or 9:15, yes they possibly be used, the reason they are used rarely is first a time stamp of 8:20 gives a sad look of the watch as if its crying making a negative impression for 9:15 may be it gives a look of some shock or surprise ( may be bad or good ). another reason 10:10 time stamp is famous , because most of the brands have their logo on the upper side of the dial making it clearly visible with 10:10 time, however brands with logo on the bottom half of the dial use 8:20 time stamp.
Well what ever be the reason I still doubt my arguments, I wrote all this on the basis of information I collected , still I like 10:10 time stamp because I am used to it or may be we all are used to it.

Its good that ur taking so much of efforts to justify this logic..
see your logic is good for justifying 10:10
one more thing in marketing term..
see if logo is at upper side and we make a” V “out of hour and minute hands .. it shows logo as center of attraction and means when we see the watch our first look will go to the logo … so its a marketing strategy..
and The V symbol shows the victorious power of the Brand ..
@sameer It also has resemblance to right tick, which is why the opposite will not look appropriate..

During the final stages of World War II in 1945, the United States conducted two atomic bombings against Japan in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at 10:10.
