The Global Language Monitor has finally announced Web 2.0 as the one millionth word surpassing Slumdog , Jai ho and Noob which are recently added to the English dictionary this time.
Web 2.0 means the next generation of World Wide Web products and services.It has gained worldwide popularity in the last six months.Two terms from India, Jai Ho! and slumdog finished at No. 2 and 4 spot.
Jai Ho! Is a Hindi exclamation signifying victory or accomplishment whereas Slumdog is an discourteous term for children living in the slums and n00b refers to a mixture of letters and numbers that is a derisive term for newcomer.
Following is a list of 15 finalists for the one millionth English word, all of which have met the criteria of a minimum of 25,000 commendations with the necessary breadth of geographic distribution, and depth of citations.
