Name a country which has no villages ? Answer is Singapore . Shocked but it’s a fact. With urbanization at its peak,we all dream to live in countries like New Zealand, Singapore ! reason the clean environment they have, how clean their country is , how responsible the citizens are. Well citizenship is something I cannot comment because there are many illiterate in India, what can be done with the help of some elite groups is to clean the country, reason is most of the garbage comes from big metros and the reason is straight forward – use of poly bags.

The use of poly bags no doubt have taken a significant role in our daily life, from shopping at Malls to buying vegetables from road side vendor we all carry our stuff in poly bags, the darker side of using them is making our environment unhygienic, these poly bags block sewage system thereby causing flies and germs to grow ,causing swage water to come on the street and rest of the picture we all can imagine.

Other notorious act that is practiced in society is to throw the garbage out side the house may be on the road, doing a similar act in one of your dream country will attract fine and that is the reason you won’t find people spitting or throwing garbage on the streets of London and NewYork. It has been inherited in their culture not to do so.The roads are meant for transport not to be used as dustbins.

Well every problem has a solution and this too have a simple one and in fact in front of us , but the point is we don’t want to see it may be we are happy or we are used to live in such kind of environment, the use of poly bags has caused much of the filth so why not use them as a cure.At places where people are aware a sweeper visits their place regularly may be in mornings or may be evening, we only need to do collect our waste in a polybag ( THE BLACK ONE WHICH ARE USED FOR THIS PURPOSE ONLY ) and wrap them , keep it outside your house or apartment and sweeper will collect it and dump it to a assigned area from where it’ll go for recycling . I don’t challenge my solution but I am sure this would give some sign of improvement , at least waste would not scattered on the roads, causing flies and stinking fragrance.

We all complaint that there is so much filth in India and compare our country with countries like Australia, New Zealand, Singapore. The difference is simple and straight forward they follow such routine.

I hope we all pull up our socks and get ready to clean up what was left messy and untidy and make 50 % Singapore out of India.

Some finest documentaries on wildlife conservation were screened which shocked every audience over there. First film screened was "The Vanishing Vultures" It showed that almost 99% vultures who are natural scavengers and saves human beings from several infections and virus by eating the dumped dead bodies of animals were dead close to 78 million between late 90′s and early 20′s.In their absence, carrion lies unattended and breeds diseases, several of which may be unknown to humans in future. A flock of vultures has the ability to dispose of an ox-sized animal in just 30 minutes. The situation was alarming and after involvement of several wildlife research organization and Bombay Natural History Society it was found that a medicine called diclofenac given to cattle, buffaloes, sheep or goats as a pain-relieving drug were consumed by vultures during scavenging that animal which causes the birds to suffer from dehydration when uric acid forms, leading to kidney failure and death .Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in 2005 ordered that its use be discontinued in the country within six months. However, the Drugs Controller didn’t act on this directive for a long time and the Agriculture Ministry also remains lethargic. Meloxicam, which is harmless, is two-and-a-half times expensive is an alternate to diclofenac. This documentary has been screened at various film festivals and other places to spread awareness about the disturbance created in food chain. In order to conserve these birds two vulture conservation sanctuary has been established in Haryana and Westbengal. Second documentary screened was "Shores of Silence",a plea to save the endangered whale sharks in India which won the coveted Green Oscar Award.
During making this film he came to know that fishermen at Gujarat coastal areas use to hunt whale(which they called garbage fish as they sell its liver oil only to make boot polish and to waterproof boats) and sell its flesh in nearby areas for as low as 1Re/Kg.As they were unaware of the sensitivity of the issue they kept on hunting it for several years. It took 3 years for the filmmaker to shoot this film and when it came out environmentalist were shocked.Soon after the hunting of shark whales were brought under THE INDIAN WILDLIFE (PROTECTION) ACT, 1972.Now the fishermen no more hunt this big giant and feels regret for their act. One more interesting information was shared by Mr. Pandey who asks not to kill cockroaches as their enzymes are used for making a life saving homeopathic medicine for asthmatic patients. It can not only control but also cures the problem of Asthma.

We as an individual can contribute significantly in saving our planet from the clutches of global warming and moves towards Greener Earth. Save our planet before its too late.

In order to make people aware about the environment and ways to make Earth Green PepsiCo India are executing few projects with innovative ideas in various states across the country.
They are currently working in association with different NGO’s and institutes like EXNORA ,TERI and ADI for the welfare of
different sections of the society.
Water management ,Solid waste management and Agri-partnership with farmers are few endeavours among many which are
proving successful to make our palnet a better place to live in.For details click tomorrowbetterthantoday

PepsiCo India and EXNORA effectively implemented a model project in Pammal district in Tamil Nadu that adhered to the
Government policy on waste management. The project created a visible difference in the local environment of the region.
Implemented in a few wards of the Pammal district and impacting a population of over 22,000, the programme imparted
training on recycling waste rather than simply relocating it. The programme involved the creation of infrastructure,
usage of superior grade EXORCO compost, recycling of plastic and steel waste, road cleaning, street beautification,
sanitation awareness programes and a tree plantation programe that include the concept of ‘Each Child Adopt a Tree‘.

Each Child adopt a Tree

Recently they have organized a exhibition at British council New Delhi displaying a forest view with the use of recycled Pepsi cans.In line with the same a film SIX Degrees : Could change the Earth ,was screened on EARTH DAYwhich is celebrated on 22nd April every year to spread awareness for the earth’s environment.

This gives out a clear message that not only big corporates but we as an individual can also
contribute significantly towards the global warming and environment related issues that our planet is facing today.
