The journey started 10 yrs ago in 2000 when Lakme and IMG came together to provide platform to some of the known designers in Indian fashion world to showcase their platform.The year 2000 was a milestone for Indian fashion, with the first Lakmé India Fashion Week being held at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. With this event, Lakme and IMG helped the country take its first step towards being recognized as a source of creativity and inspiration in the global fashion community.

After 10 yrs Indian fashion Industry has reached a state where it is now considered as the strong competent aside leading fashion capitals of the World.

This time LFW was presented with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world”.LFW is organized twice annually.

All these years LFW served as the premier platform to launch new designers and showcase India’s best, talented established designers and a place where domestic and international buyers alike interact with designers to support the business of fashion.

This decade of progress and evolution marks an important milestone in the Indian Fashion industry.As such, Lakme and IMG took this opportunity to reflect on the evolving fashion industry by bringing together some of India’s best known fashion talents in one show.

This show was a unique concept that encapsulated and illustrated the history and provided a glimpse into the future of Indian fashion through the artistic representations of key fashion influencers over the past 10 years.

This hallmark event showcased many of the past Lakme Grand Finale designers who have come together to produce one show that travels from “Then” to “Now” and ultimately to “Forever”.

With Lakme Fashion week spring summer 2010 which took place at Hyatt,Mumbai from 18-22nd sep. marking ten glorious years of Indian Fashion Industry this event  took us through a voyage starting from yr 2000 showcasing “Then” ,How fashion Industry looked like a  decade ago through a audio visual format and the transitions which took place over past 10 yrs to “Now” which is the designer’s representation of what that theme means today. and ultimately to “Forever”,i.e. how it is perceived in future with his or her “Forever” girl.

Celebrating 10 glorious yrs of Indian fashion Industry Lakme fashion week is currently being held at Hyatt,Mumbai from 18-22^nd september. This event will redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world. British Airways new commercial shows life of Mumbaikars and recent Lakme fashion week going on.It starts with a broad view of Arabian sea and skyscrapers in background. Mumbaikars travelling in bus and little school going kids wearing raincoats amidst heavy rains which is unpredictable throughout the year and most people carry umbrella before stepping out from their home. Mumbai has a amazing buzz that never dies out that never goes off to sleep showing mundane affairs across the city with people going out for job and business travelling in Local trains ,taxi .There after it shows a designer and make-up artist experimenting with the outfits designed and appearance of a model. Designers use Indian raw materials mostly and do as much local work as possible. City buildings, textiles and diverse experience of millionaires and slumdogs.

Finally last few seconds of film tells that Lakme fashion week was first of its kind fashion week in India and if you want to mark your presence in Indian Fashion industry or anywhere to be recognized in Global fashion arena this show is the right place to start with urging buyers and designers to participate in this event.

Gorgeous Miss Venezuela

At last the day has arrived for which the whole universe was eagerly waiting to cognize the new crowning lady at Miss Universe 2009 event which was held in Bahamas this year. Stefanía Fernández from Venezuela was crowned Miss Universe 2009 beating 82 Gorgeous and beautiful ladies from different countries competing for the title passing through various rounds like swimsuit, evening gown and other interview phases at different stages of the event which was going for last one month.On 16^th Aug semi-finals were held in which 15 out of 83 contestants were selected for the grand finale but the results were kept secret for the D-day.

It happened for the first time in the history of this event that Miss universe was crowned by her predecessor who belongs to the same country as Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela was titled Miss Universe2008. First runner up is Ada de la Cruz from  Dominican republic and 2nd runner up is Marigona Dragusha from Kosovo.Wang Jingyao from China has been awarded Ms Congeniality title whereas Chutima Durongdej of Thailand was titled Ms Photogenic and Ms Panama was crowned for Best national costume.USA which boasts of the maximum no. of Miss Universe titles managed to finish in Top10.

As Miss Universe, Fernandez will have the use of a  apartment in New York City during the year of her reign, and will receive living expenses. She would also get a two-year scholarship at the New York Film Academy; a vacation for two in the Bahamas; and a wardrobe, including evening wear, swimsuits and jewellery.Fernandez is just 18yrs old and  was the youngest of all the contestant with two other contestant of the same age.

In a recent annual survey for the Top fashion cities of World,Milan has topped the chart pushing down New York after a five year reign to become the Top Fashion Capital of the World in 2009.The survey was conducted by Global Language Monitor’s which is logically based upon PQI (Predictive Quantities Index), a proprietary algorithm that tracks words and phrases in print and electronic media, on the Internet and throughout the blogosphere. The words and phrases are tracked in relation to their frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets. Milan, New York, Paris, Rome and London made their way to the Top 5 Fashion capital whereas Mumbai and Delhi surged to grab the 16^th and 17^th position respectively.

Millie L. Payack, director and fashion correspondent for the Global Language Monitor. said “The global economic restructuring has affected the fashion industry just as it has touched everything else.The catwalks were still crowded though with the lights dimmer, the hype a bit more restrained, and ‘recessionistas,’ of course, thriving”.

Since the advertising and fashion industry was severely hit by recession,models have agreed to work for as less than as half the price they demanded few years ago.Four Brazilian models have made their way in top 10 richest models.Here is a list of Top 10 richest models of World,

Brazilian beauty Gisele Caroline Bundchen has topped the chart among richest models. This 28 yrs old gal has earnings close to 33 million$  from numerous campaigns, including those for brands like Versace, True Religion jeans and Dior,Apple, Dolce & Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli.

Second spot is grabbed by 35-year-old German beauty Heidi Klum,with an estimated earning of 16 million $.The model has endorsed brands like Diet Coke, Volkswagen, McDonald’s and LG.
